Who we are.
We are a team of former HMRC inspectors and Chartered Tax Advisers.
What we do
We assist with proactive planning, like moving overseas, handling HMRC investigations, supporting clients and their legal advisers through complex HMRC disputes and tax litigation, and expanding into the UK.
Our team are also experienced in helping UK businesses with domestic tax issues, such as buying and selling businesses, employee share schemes, and other complex tax problems, often working alongside the client’s accountant.
For individuals, we commonly advise on inheritance tax planning, capital gains tax, and issues arising in complex divorce situations.
How we are different
Most firms give you a menu of options and leave you to choose. We weigh the options and tell you which one we would take, and why, with the statutory basis set out so you and your other advisers can rely on it. Engagements are scoped and fixed-fee, so there are no open-ended time costs.
The team
David Rose
Chartered Tax Adviser & former HMRC Inspector
David is a Chartered Tax Adviser and former HMRC Inspector with over 15 years experience advising businesses and their owners on UK and international tax matters. His early years inside HMRC gave him a deep understanding of how decisions are made and how to navigate them, insight he now uses to help clients make confident, commercially grounded decisions.
He works closely with business owners, investors, and professional advisers to deliver practical, strategic advice that balances compliance, efficiency, and growth. Calm under pressure and precise in his thinking, David is trusted by clients for his clarity, commercial judgement, and technical ability.
David regularly lectures on tax to other tax advisers, accountants, and lawyers, and is currently writing a guide to Corporation Tax for Claritax.

Aidan Moran
Chartered Tax Adviser & former HMRC Inspector
Aidan is a Chartered Tax Adviser and former HMRC Inspector with over ten years experience advising high net worth individuals and business owners on complex UK and international tax matters. His early career within HMRC’s compliance teams gave him a detailed understanding of how investigations unfold and how best to navigate them, insight he now uses to protect and position his clients effectively.
Before co-founding Moran Rose, Aidan led the London Tax Disputes practice at a top 10 firm, where he built a reputation for strategic thinking and trusted client relationships. His work spans tax disputes and advisory matters, with particular expertise in COP8 and COP9 investigations, HMRC settlements, and cross-border planning for inbound and outbound individuals.
Known for his strategic approach and calm confidence, Aidan is the adviser clients rely on, combining technical precision with clear recommendations and a deep understanding of their commercial and personal goals.
