Privacy policy

How we collect, use and look after personal information on this website. Last updated: [date].

Draft for review. [This is a working draft. Have it reviewed and complete the placeholders before publishing.]

Who we are

This website is operated by [company name] trading as ukinternationaltax.com ("we", "us"). [Registered in England and Wales, company number, registered office]. We are the controller of personal data collected through this website. You can contact us about anything in this policy at info@ukinternationaltax.com.

The information we collect

When you use the contact form or email us, we collect the details you give us: your name, email address, and whatever you tell us about your situation. Our hosting provider also processes limited technical information, such as IP addresses in server logs, to run and secure the site.

How we use it, and why we are allowed to

We use your information to respond to your enquiry and, if you become a client, to provide our services. The lawful bases we rely on are: taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and performing that contract once engaged; our legitimate interests in running the practice, responding to enquiries and keeping proper records; and compliance with legal and professional obligations, including anti-money laundering law.

Who we share it with

Contact form submissions are processed on our behalf by Formspree, which delivers them to our email. The website is hosted by Cloudflare. The site loads fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser sends a request (including your IP address) to Google when a page loads. We may also share information where professional or legal obligations require it, for example with our insurers, regulators or law enforcement.

International transfers

Some of our service providers process data outside the UK. Where they do, transfers are made under appropriate safeguards. [Confirm each provider transfer mechanism, e.g. UK addendum to SCCs or adequacy, before publishing.]

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry correspondence for [period, e.g. 12 months] if you do not become a client. Client records are kept in line with our professional and anti-money laundering obligations, typically for at least five years after the engagement ends. [Confirm retention periods.]

Your rights

You have the right to ask for access to your personal data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to our use of it, and to data portability where applicable. To exercise any of these, email info@ukinternationaltax.com. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Guides and our mailing list

If you request one of our guides, we ask for your name, email address and which guide you want. We use your details to send you the guides you request. If you also tick the optional marketing box, we will send you occasional emails about UK and international tax and our services; the lawful basis for those emails is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email or by contacting us. Your details are held in our email marketing platform, [platform name and location to be added], and are not shared with anyone else for their own marketing.

Changes

We will post any changes to this policy on this page.
